Set against the brown & grey bedrock that is the mineral earth green is the vibrant contrasting color life.

Green is most obvious plants leaves on trees & grass underfoot which get their colors from presence chlorophyll. However is also present animals lizard amphibians & even insects which evolved these features as way camouflaging with the predominant foliage. Even the waves the ocean take on green tint the right light & the waters still pond can become coated blanket olive toned algae. This makes the color life & growth. It is often associated with fertility regeneration & healing. Green is natural healthy & active is constantly growing & changing. Yet is also soothing like sitting the midst forest with streams sunlight shooting down the canopy & the gentle chatter thousand living creatures creating tranquil buzz your ears.

However green can also be symbol sickness & decay. Life is green but humans are not & human whose face has taken on the pale pallor illness is often said to be looking little green.

Certain tones are especially evocative sickness bringing to mind thoughts mold bugs viruses & other unsavory things. Just because green represents living creatures does not mean that those creatures are clean or healthy. The negative side is emphasized most the Celtic tradition which has evolved over the eons into modern British culture. Even today Britain is often considered bad luck to ride green car or wear green clothes.

However most the world & most its shades the overwhelming meaning the color green is health & life. It is the official color Britains neighbor to the north where the Irish revel the abundant green their ever rolling plains.

Green is claimed by Islam as the religions official color. This is probably due to the fact that Islam emerged the dessert where great expanses sand swept lifeless landscapes make rare patches reason to rejoice. It is said their religion that Paradise will be full lush green plants.

In America the color green is considered soothing & tranquil without being lethargic. Unlike its counterpart blue this doesn put you to sleep; just keeps you relaxed while you go about the day to day activities your life.

Green is also the color American money. In this way takes on different aspect growth this case representing the growth personal empire or fortune. This is unlike the growth nature which expands the world & life; instead money green is the growth acquisition where taking is just as good as making. In this way this color has become associated with greed & envy. It is the color desire which can lead to obsession. In way however this does mimic life where trees will strangle one anothers roots & will reach up to block one another from life sustaining sun.

Life isn always pretty & neither is green but life is good & so is the idea growth & activity. In this way is profound force our everyday lives. The meaning the color green is subtle subtext which colors the underlying structure our culture our art & our very lives.
